Happy Sunday!
Usually, when I do vintage pieces, it’s with a bit of a wink–the best of now, with the best of yesterday. I’ve always felt like too much vintage and you look like you’re in costume. Too little and you don’t make enough impact. But recently, this happened:
In a shoulder-padded sweater, straight-legged jeans and the gaudiest necklace I’ve seen in a while, there are no ‘winks’ in this outfit. I am quite literally dressed like an extra from 227.
Actually, the 80s and 90s were an interesting moment in fashion that we haven’t since recaptured . I would submit it was the last time people proudly looked ridiculous and dressed without irony.
Now I’m the first to approach fashion with a smirk, but being chronically jaded can be exhausting, no?
So here’s to the occasional dose of earnest vintage dressing.
Next stop, Bamboo earrings…at least two pair.
Thanks for reading; talk soon.

@brownsuga The way I think I about it, If I can dream it, I can pull it off, lol. I actually wore the spotted shoes I wore in my last post. For the life of me, I could get a good full-body shot : (
Hahaha – I LOVE the 80s! I was a young woman then and this looks like one of my favorite outfits! For evening, I’d switch the blouse for a bra top – you could not tell me I was not cute! I’m still a sucker for a strong shouldered jacket…
And as always, I heart your hair – I’ll be copying it sometime this week!
@juliette oh shoot re: that bra top and jacket! You should send a pic–I want to see your authentic look! The hair was super simple. I did a high ponytail but before I did, I pulled out the majority of the front. Once I made the ponytail, I took the front, swooped it across the forehead and secured it with a few pins. 5 mins in the mirror, max!
I like! I really love the jacket!
I love it!
