Exceptions to the Rule

23 Mar

Ugh. I’m having major camera woes. To start, my regular camera fell and broke and so, I ran out to buy another. In truth, it was always my intent to invest in a new one. And so I did, but I have no idea how to use this new one hate this one.

Anyway, pics below with apologies for the quality–I’m working on it.

This is a sportier look than I usually do–actuallyeverything about this outfit is anomalous for me.

I’m not the biggest tee shirt wearer, but as an African girl, I couldn’t help myself. Great message, great quality shirt.

I NEVER wear white or light colors. I love them, but I’m far too messy a human to manage myself appropriately. If it’s not the general coat of dust and soot that lingers over every surface in this fair city, it’ll be my own makeup that will get me stained. But, this Eloquii tuxedo jacket wouldn’t let me be. Don’t worry–there’s a Tide Stick in my bag.

PS. I was having major wind problems.  My hair looked like  it was in a blender most of the time, so…

How often do you see me in a sneaker? Jamais. But a wedge sneaker that looks saucy with shorts or body con dress AND dope with skinny jeans? There is room in the closet for that.

These actually come in an array of colors. Frankly, a pair of citron colored ones almost came home. But at the last minute I wondered, ‘Post-Spring/Summer season, when all that will remain is a pair of dirty lime green sneakers, will you want to wear them in the Fall? Further, with what exactly will you wear these frowsy sneakers  in the middle of October? ‘

Prudence prevailed. Plus, I have a feeling these will look more authentic with a lil’ schmutz on the toe.

Plus, my hair is out of braids for the Spring.   It’s at its healthiest when I leave it alone so braids are really the very best way I can care for my tresses. But honestly? I miss it when it’s away. Now that it’s out, I’m itching to dye it somehow. I don’t want to cut it, but I do need a change. Let’s see what I come up with…

I am however, always this much of a dork; Never an exception there.

Thanks for reading; talk soon!

You look adorable!! I love the quirky coolness of the whole outfit! The camera thing………………I feel ya! I haven’t figured out how to really use my camera and I have had it for several months. I am thinking about going back to my inexpensive, digital camera.

I think you made a very good exception to your no light colors rule/habit:=)

Your Ash sneakers are everything! I want some so bad but I’m worried about the size. Did they run small for you?

You know they didn’t. I was worried about it too, because I’m a true 10 (and on one side, a small 10.5 honestly). But they fit well and feel better each time I wear them. Buy them—you won’t regret it.
